I love you Daddy, your protection is my peace
When we play in the park, my joy doesn't cease

I love you Daddy, you're the strongest and the best
When you're around, my heart slows, and I feel at rest

I love you Daddy, your morning games make me wake
I giggle, I laugh, you surprise me with breakfast cake

I love you Daddy, cuddling together with you and mom, my head resting in your palm
You two, take the anxiety away with the snuggles, keeping me calm

I'm scared Daddy, nighttime is here now
The monsters made me promise—I won't break the vow

I'm scared Daddy, I hide under the covers on my bed
The monsters here, gently, and slowly kiss my head

I'm terrified Daddy, please don't
The monsters are afraid I'll speak, but I won't

I'm crying Daddy, now that I know mommy is asleep
The feelings and sensations are too confusing—so I weep

I sob and feel dirty; I don't know if I was bad or what I've done
I don't like talking about it, surely this is normal, I can't be the only one

I loved you Daddy, but now I hurt so much and feel disgust
I don't understand what I did wrong Daddy, and lost all trust

I curl up now Daddy, hugging my knees
Silently weeping while shaking, whispering pleas

Hearing your footsteps return to the room above
What you did to me Daddy... was not love

What was done to you was not love and it was never, ever your fault.
You are still whole, still beautiful, and you have always been lovely you.
