I stood there, holding you
I blinked and my arms went through

I felt the emptiness, instead of where you were
My thoughts only focused on, "what happened to her"

I don't know why you chose to leave
But I know now that you're not the girl for me

Sometimes, I can still catch your scent
Sometimes, I ponder the words you meant

But here I am now, alone in this field
It's quieter without you, and all I feel…

is just peace now, knowing someone will take your place
Physically you're gone, and emotionally I'm making space

I breathe in the night air, and let it envelop all
Daylight will come tomorrow, but for now I'll embrace nightfall
