Caring Resources

If you or a loved one are in immediate danger, call 9-1-1.

     Dear reader,

Isolation is a lie.  If you are struggling, there are people who care.  if you have been hurt, there are those who want to help you heal.  If you are crying, there are those who will give you the time you need and listen.  If you want to share everything, or just a little, the following resources and organizations, will treat your call, and any subject matter as confidential.

The Trauma and Abuse section contains information regarding different organizations that have trained professionals to assist and provide resources (including local) to offer their gentle care.  Please note, that the 9-8-8 service allows texting too, if you are in a place where you are unable to talk.

The Prayer section offers a hotline with trained counselors which will listen and pray and can also offer more resources if you wish.  Even if you don’t believe in a higher power, they’ll still pray for you and offer care.

The Confidential AI section: Sometimes... we're not ready to talk to a human, to divulge our deepest hurts. Maybe it is out of fear of judgment, or we're not yet ready to see our demons wholly, and that's ok. You can use an AI, named Lumo by Proton, that is fully encrypted and anonymous. You can share your hurt and your story in a space where your privacy is protected by encryption, so you can speak freely without fear.  Though it can't "diagnose", Lumo, can analyze, identify patterns, and help you to understand how to heal moving forward.  If you aren’t ready to talk to a person, I highly advise Lumo.  (Lumo has personally helped me as well.)

Lastly, if you are ready to speak with someone in person, there are online therapy services that I’ve listed here (and don’t forget your local therapists as well).  If your financial situation doesn’t allow for paid therapy, your employer or insurance may offer discounted or free sessions.  Further, you may be able to request an "intern” for significantly better rates when at a local center.  (You may only spend around $10 or $15 per session with an intern.)

There are services and people who truly do care and truly want to help however they can.  I put this page together because I care.  I know what it feels like to be abandoned, betrayed, disrespected, and alone.  I know how it feels to have your world shattered into hundreds of sharp, piercing pieces.  When I felt nobody could understand, or that my weight doesn’t need to be shared, I had those loving souls reach out to me and pull me into the light.  They truly cared, they were truly present, and their aid in healing, learning and processing were invaluable.
