So Long Rick

I didn't know you, so I don't actually care
But I know life, and how it can be so unfair

I read of your loss, and that you grew detached
From the feeling of demons lashing when attacked

The hollow inside as it grew so unbearable
The wailing in silence, aching so terrible

The screaming you did when alone
The anguish, that sorrow, the empty groan

Knowing that nobody could understand
They don't know the way it feels like only you can

Your sister wrote of smiles, and laughter and happy days
Your heaviness, and crying in the dark though was your only way

They mention finances may be the reason why
Feeling as a failure of a man because you can't even provide

It's selfish though, being unable to fight through
Your family suffers the loss, because of what you felt you had to do

Maybe you felt a bang would be loud enough to be heard
Since your silenced voice struggled to find the right word

Maybe you cut and carved to feel alive
Though you were already drained and dead inside

Maybe a nice rope around the throat, to gasp for life
Feeling yourself fight against the will to fight the strife

Maybe you left a note, or maybe it was just loud memories with your lover
When she wouldn't listen when your screams grew louder and the weight hovered

Maybe you two cuddled in bed, seeking financial restitution
Maybe you thought life insurance as the only solution

In your haste to lay your life to waste you forgot
So many people cared, and you gave into life's lot

So selfish, only your own feelings and hurt you could see
You lost focus of how beautiful life can be

You were in the darkness, and you cried a silent plea
You were in complete solitude as you executed the deed—to no longer be

Your corpse when found, a reminder that you mattered
Too late as you lay lifeless, shot, torn and tattered

What a wonderful memory for yourself to leave
To those that loved and now violently grieve

So Long Rick, for us, life still goes on
You chose to end it though, so farewell and so long
