Withheld Celebration

I wish with all my heart you were near
I want to hug you so badly, my dear

You were right all along
I doubted and was so wrong

Your love and belief in me helped me to grow
If it wasn't for you, I may never know

That I have a gift, which can help others to heal
You were right to say my poems make people feel

I hate the irony, that you are now gone
But my feelings are still so strong

Maybe there is hope for someday
I hope, that maybe there is something one day

For now though, the distance is how we survive
It feels like death though, being without you and still alive

I hate it. I hate that you won't move forward into the unknown
I'm right here, sweet girl, I'm right here sitting upon my throne

The seat next to me is empty—red velvet cushioned seats
Diamond encrusted marble slabs as rest boards for your feet

An entire domain, awaits to welcome its queen
But you walked the other way—reality no longer the dream

I love you still, with all I have
Your smile and laugh, still make me glad

Walk forward into your new role
Be the best I know you are, thrive and grow

I secretly hope one day we can be
But for now, you're just a splendid memory to me

I want to celebrate today, spinning you in a hug
I want you to feel, everything and completely—fully feel this love

You make me feel so proud, I wish to give gratitude via flowers
But time and distance kill slowly—been waiting for months, days, and hours

I know you won't come, and you aren't ready
I do all I can, to calm my heart and hold it steady

These flowers though, are for you
I'll lay them down here, for now, that'll have to do
