The Wall

I wish to give all the pain, love and longing
My heart aches, it bleeds, your name sets it throbbing

I stand before this wall, that stretches endlessly
Blocked to give what I desire to share so vivaciously

I touch the cold stones and my hand burns with frostbite
I yell for you to hear me, but the barrier blocks all sound and sight

I know you are on the other side and can destroy this wall
Standing so long here scraping away my nails, so tired, I fall

Waiting at this merciless divide and emotional distress
All my energy given to this cause, to be consumed, to obsess

You were worth the fight and the hurt that your fire gave birth
...burned every smile, every tear, every confusion, all our worth

But here you are, your presence still felt, while so far away
Over and over, I try to leave, but desire insists I stay
