Poetic Reflections #7

Lying still, enclosed finally
Staring up at a picture perfect blue sky
I hear the sobbing, all the love returned
So many words I wished I said, so many moments burned
If I could, I would cry to release the life I'm at last feeling
The Eulogy so beautiful, and profound
I'll miss them, and they'll miss me, now that I'm no longer around
I wish I could have given more
I wish I could help in ways my masters didn't permit
Life feels so wasted once you reflect back on it
But nothing done really matters as it turns to ash anyway
That's why it's important to lose ego and say...
"I love you", "I've needed you" and "thank you"
But we're prideful creatures and prefer to pretend we did it all alone
And that folly is where we shall atone
The words never said, eat away competing with worms and maggots
The pride keeping us distant, so useless as our bodies rot
Was it good? To not say to the special one you loved how you felt so true
Is it better having not said it, as your body wickedly morphs into bloated mush and poisonous stew?
I hope you're proud
The dead's unspoken silence, echoes so loud
But here I lie...
Wishing I could cry
Still begotten, by the deep blues of the sky
Prayers are said, as is always done
My taxi has arrived to take me home, before the setting of the sun
Once more lying, looking up at a tent
People crying and speaking their final farewells before my descent
I wish to hug them, wish to love them
....just one last time
But it's over now, and the funeral bells chime
Placed down I go, in a cold hole
A life fighting for luxury and embellished home
To end in this claustrophobic state of unknown
Damn it's bright, but the living will cover me before night
And I'll lie here, with the orchestrated smile
Happy though, no more dread or fear
No more debts, or hurts or internal struggle
No more fighting to keep one another
Just one of many among the tombstones
At last, a life finally never alone
